Praying you're all having a blessed week so far! As we've been announcing and you already know, reminding you that we will be having Holy Qurbana this Friday evening (6/28) to celebrate the End of the Apostles' Fast. Evening Prayer will begin promptly at 6:30pm, followed by Holy Qurbana.
As we've been discussing, all our fasting periods are important, but this fast is especially important for our parish as our parish is in the name of one of the Apostles of our Lord. The intercession of St. Thomas, and all the Apostles and Saints, is very strong and a great help in our lives. Through their prayers, we can transform our minds, hearts and lives into lives of Holiness, making us truly, "walking Gospels." The Apostles were normal, everyday people, like you and I, who transformed their lives by the presence of Christ. If they can do it, so can we. As we have been praying from the Pampakuda Namaskaram,
"Lord, as You were pleased with the fast of the Apostles, be pleased with our fast. Help us not to live for the world, but to live for You and in You like the Apostles. Make us worthy to shine, not merely as namesake Christians, but as truly practicing Christians in this world, and to be examples of fasting, prayer and alms-giving."
Come, receive the blessings and grace from our Lord, so that we can properly end our fast and Feast at our Picnic the following day!
Also another housekeeping reminder in regards to the names for commemoration during Holy Qurbana. Please e-mail or text me any names you'd like to have remembered (for this Friday) by no later than Friday at 1pm. On normal weekends, if you're not at evening prayer on Saturdays and cannot write the names on the list yourself, please do the same by Saturdays no later than 5pm.
